Von der Braunkohleregion zur Seenlandschaft.

Die ehemals vom Braunkohleabbau geprägte Landschaft im Umland von Leipzig hat sich seit der Stillegung der Tagebaue in den 1990er Jahren in eine moderne Wassersportregion verwandelt. Die neu entstandenen Seen in den Landkreisen Leipzig und Nordsachsen bilden heute gemeinsam mit den Fließgewässern der Stadt Leipzig das Leipziger Neuseenland.
